Former Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy shortlisted for award

Former Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy has been nominated for the League One player of the month award.

The veteran left the Reds in September and moved to Bolton Wanderers.

He has scored five goals in his last five league appearances and is up for the November player of the month award.

The former Republic of Ireland striker is up against Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduilett, Wycombe left-back Joe Jacobson and Oxford striker Matty Taylor.

The nomination comes in the same week it emerged Murphy served a six week ban for taking cocaine while at Forest.

Bolton have since issued a statement on the matter.

“We are aware of the events which took place prior to Daryl’s arrival at the club,” a statement read.

“Daryl served a suspension and has expressed regret over the incident, which occurred out of competition.

“Daryl is a valued member of the first team squad and the club will be making no further comment on this matter.”
