Former Nottingham Forest youngster Matthew Bondswell is said to be attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights ahead of the January transfer window.
Two years after he left the City Ground for RB Leipzig, the teenage defender has been linked with a return to English football.
Bondswell is currently on loan at Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht, but the Daily Telegraph claim Chelsea and West Ham United are among the clubs “monitoring his situation”.
The 18-year-old came through the ranks at the Nigel Doughty Academy, but he made the move to Germany before making a first-team breakthrough for the Reds.
Manchester United and Southampton were reportedly keeping an eye on him prior to the left-back’s decision to follow in the footsteps of Oliver Burke and join Leipzig.
After arriving in Germany, Bondswell played regularly in the Under-17 Bundesliga, playing 23 times, whilst also representing England at youth level.
He took part in last summer’s Under-17 European Championships in Ireland before going on to play for Leipzig’s Under-19 side, making 12 appearances before the season was cut short.
Bondswell has also had a taste of European football, playing in the UEFA Youth League against Zenit St Petersburg and Lyon.
As well as his football talents, the youngster has also previously shone in athletics.
He won a silver medal at the English Schools Track and Field Championships in the triple jump in 2017.
He was a gold medalist at Under-15 level the year before and has won multiple golds at county and schools level in the same discipline and over 200m.
