Former Nottingham Forest defender James Perch has been released by Scunthorpe United because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Perch, who came through the ranks at the City Ground before moving to Newcastle United in 2010, is one of 11 players to be released by the Glanford Park side today.
The Covid-19 outbreak has paused the season indefinitely as the English Football League (EFL) scramble to put a plan in place to restart the campaign and play 2019-20 out to a finish.
Already, though, clubs are starting to make crunch decisions on the future of players as the financial impact of nine postponed matches begins to bite and Perch - who was out of contract at the end of the season - has been let go.
Perch, who made 190 League appearances for Forest, has also turned out for Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers and now finds himself without a club at the age of 34.
"At present, we are not making any offers to our out-of-contract first team squad members due to the coronavirus pandemic and the significant loss of income suffered by the club," Scunthorpe said.
Mansfield-born Perch made his Forest debut in 2004 after graduating at the Nigel Doughty Academy following eight years in the youth setup and appeared in more than 200 matches in all competitions at the Reds
