Former Nottingham Forest star praises 'different class' Joao Carvalho

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Andy Reid has described Joao Carvalho’s performance against Middlesbrough as “different class”.

The 22-year-old club-record signing put in a man of the match performance in the 3-0 victory over Boro on Easter Monday.

The game was only Carvalho’s second start under manager Martin O’Neill, but he provided two assists for his team mates which saw him earn a standing ovation from the City Ground faithful when he was replaced by Adlene Guedioura in the closing stages.

Nottingham Forest to battle Derby County for signature of Wigan winger Gavin Massey, report claims

Reid made 290 appearances across two spells for the Reds, scoring 42 goals in all competitions before retiring in 2016.

The 36-year-old took to Twitter to express his praise for the Carvalho’s performance, which he labelled as “different class”.

“Just managed to watch the highlights of the forest game yesterday, Carvalho was different class, fair play to lad,” Reid tweeted.

Forest have two games left in their Sky Bet Championship campaign, with a trip to Queens Park Rangers followed by a home clash against Bolton Wanderers on the final day of the season.
