Former Nottingham Forest prospect linked with return to England after £8m move turns sour

Former Nottingham Forest forward Arvin Appiah could be set for a return to England.

The England youth international left Forest to join Spanish second tier side Almeria in 2019.

However, the £8m move has failed to pan out and he has made just 10 league starts in two seasons for Almeria.

In fact, Appiah ended the the 2020/21 campaign on loan elsewhere in the second tier, with Lugo.

Now the tricky winger is being linked with a move to Ipswich as the East Anglian Daily Times say the League One side are considering a bid for him, although it is not clear if that would be on loan or on a permanent basis.

Appiah made seven appearances for Forest, scoring once, before his big money move.

Appiah was briefly a teammate of Joao Carvalho's last season as the Portuguese midfielder spent the campaign on loan with Almeria.

The club record signing continues to divide opinion among the fanbase, with some eager to see him given a fresh start and others arguing the Reds should do their best to move him on.

Reports from Spain make it clear Almeria will not take up their option to buy, following the midfielder’s loan spell. As it stands, he will look to impress manager Chris Hughton.
