Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cotterill out of hospital amid Covid fight

Shrewsbury Town have confirmed that manager Steve Cotterill has returned home from hospital amid his fight against Coronavirus.

The former Nottingham Forest boss has been in hospital in Bristol for 33 days after testing positive for the virus on New Year’s Day.

The 56-year-old spent a spell in the intensive care unit, with Shrewsbury confirming leaving the unit in mid-January .

The club have now confirmed that the manager has taken the next step in his recovery by being discharged from hospital and returning home.

“He now will go through a period of rehabilitation and will continue working remotely with his Coaching Staff and players before returning full-time to the Sundorne Training Ground,” read a statement on the official website.

“Steve would like to thank Dr.Katrina Curtis for her excellent medical diagnosis and the nurses on A800 ward that took care of him during his stay.

“Finally, Steve would also like to thank everybody for the overwhelming messages of love & support that have come from inside and outside of football - he will endeavour to get back to those people now he is feeling well enough.”

Cotterill took charge of Forest between October 2011 and July 2012, leading the club in 37 games in all competitions.
