Former Nottingham Forest manager ready to end exile with Celtic set to be on alert

Martin O'Neill is reportedly ready to return to management after his ill-fated spell in charge of Nottingham Forest.

O'Neill is a Reds legend having won the First Division title and European Cup during his playing career at the City Ground.

However, he was sacked as Forest manager in June last year after just five months in charge with the club finishing ninth in the Championship.

The 68-year-old has not worked since, but The Sun report he has contacted two agents about trying to find him a new job.

They say his preference would be to work in England again, but Celtic are likely to be on alert over his stance with former Forest midfielder Neil Lennon under intense pressure.

With Celtic's bid to win a 10th Scottish title in a row in serious jeopardy, they could sack Lennon soon.

O'Neill would be an obvious replacement given his status as a legendary former Celtic manager.
