Former Nottingham Forest loanee Kris Boyd has announced his retirement following an 18-year career.
While the striker spent the majority of his time playing north of the border, he did spent twelve months in England with Middlesbrough, during which he enjoyed a short and prolific loan at the City Ground .
During ten Championship fixtures with Forest , the Scottish international scored six, including a brace in a 3-2 victory away at Bristol City that helped the Reds to qualify for the play-offs.
A hero under Billy Davies, Forest fans were keen to see him return the following season but under new boss Steve McLaren he was not offered a contract.
Three seasons later, and with Davies back at the helm, he was linked with a triumphant City Ground return which never materialised.

After short spells in Turkey and the United States, Boyd returned to Scotland with a short stint at Ibrox sandwiched between two further Kilmarnock spells.
Last season his goals helped the Killie qualify for the Europa League.
"Kris will rightly be regarded as a Kilmarnock legend and everyone at the club wishes him all the very best in his future career," said the club.
"It may be a long time before we see his like again and Kris will always be welcomed back to Rugby Park with open arms. Thanks for everything Boydy."
