Former Nottingham Forest loanee Alfa Semedo set for Championship return

Former Nottingham Forest loanee and Benfica midfielder Alfa Semedo is set for a return to England.

Reports in Portuguese newspaper Record say the player is heading to the Championship again, but do not name his destination.

It is claimed that manager Jorge Jesus is prepared to let the 23-year-old go after failing to break into his first-team plans and his move should be sealed this week.

Semedo played 24 games for the Reds last season and scored two goals for Sabri Lamouchi's side as they agonisingly missed out on a place in the top six on the final day.

But the Reds have strengthened significantly since his departure by recruiting Tyler Blackett, Lyle Taylor, Jack Colback, Fouad Bachirou and Miguel Ángel Guerrero.

More signings are expected at the City Ground with the club recently being linked with a move for Apoel defender Nicholas Ioannou.

But Brescia are also interested in the Cyprus international and it is reported they have made a better offer for the 24-year-old although the player himself wants to move to England.
