Former Nottingham Forest loan star becomes a free agent

Ex-Forest loanee Lee Tomlin has left fellow Championship side Cardiff City by mutual consent after four years at the club.

He notably played 13 times in 2017/18 for Neil Warnock’s side, scoring once as they fired their way into the Premier League.

Whilst he was with the Bluebirds, the 32-year-old enjoyed a loan spell at the City Ground where he made 15 appearances, scoring four goals and getting three assists to his name.

He was signed by Aitor Karanka, along with current Reds midfielder Jack Colback, on loan.

Tomlin’s best performance for the Reds came in a 5-2 thrashing away at QPR, where he scored twice and helped set up a goal before he was subbed midway through the second half.

The introduction of the attacking midfielder and new boss Karanka helped Forest stay clear of any danger of a drop to League One, finishing 17th and 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

As a free agent, Tomlin is now free to enter discussions over a contract to join a new club.
