Former Nottingham Forest defender Greg Halford says he is willing to play for free, to get his career “up and running again”.
The 35-year-old, who spent three years with the Reds from 2012 to 2015, is a free agent and on the lookout for a new club.
He has been without a team since the summer of 2019, when he left Aberdeen, but says he has had a pre-season with an unnamed side.
And he has taken to social media site Linkedin to say he is prepared to play without pay until January, in a bid to secure a move.
Halford wrote: “If there (are) any clubs out there looking for an experienced and motivated player with over 500 league appearances I’m willing to play for free up to January.
“I've had a pre-season with a club and trained everyday since and still training now so I'm fit and ready to go into a team.
“My hunger is as strong as ever and willing to do anything to get my career up and running again.”
Halford, who has been deployed in different positions throughout his career, started out at Colchester United.
Along with a number of loan spells, he has also represented Reading, Sunderland, Wolves, Portsmouth, Rotherham United and Cardiff City.
He moved to the City Ground from Pompey and notched up more than 80 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring eight goals.
