Former Nottingham Forest defender lands key job with French giants

Former Nottingham Forest defender Matthieu Louis-Jean has landed a key job at French giants Marseille.

The 45-year-old, who joined Forest from Le Havre in 1999 and spent six years at the City Ground, has been appointed head of recruitment at the Ligue 1 club.

Louis-Jean will start his new job early next month.

A Marseille statement said: “Matthieu knows well David Friio, technical director of the club, with whom he played in Nottingham in 2005 and worked for Manchester United with the first team (2016/2017) as well as Mathieu Seckinger, already a member of the cell. He also worked for the recruitment department of OGC Nice (2019/2020).”

Friio added: “We are very happy that Matthieu has agreed to join us.

“He is someone recognised in the business for his professionalism and expertise. We speak the same language. We welcome him.”

Marseille have had a disappointing season and are currently sixth in Ligue 1.
