Former Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier has taken up a new role in Belgium.
The Frenchman has been appointed as Standard Liege’s new coach, after Michel Preud’homme quit the post on Monday.
Montanier was in charge of the Reds for less than seven months, having been appointed in the summer of 2016.
He was axed the following January and went on to take up roles with France’s Under-20 team and Lens.
The 55-year-old was then sacked by the latter earlier this year, with director Arnaud Pouille explaining, “the dynamic was broken”.
That was Montanier’s first job in club football since his spell at the City Ground, but he has now returned to management with Liege.
The length of his contract has not been disclosed.
Announcing his arrival, the club said:” Standard de Liège welcomes Philippe Montanier and wishes him the very best in our club colors.”
His predecessor, Preud’homme also stepped down from his post as technical director, but is said to be staying on as vice-chairman and have a role in the youth academy.
