Former Nottingham Forest boss confirms 'big bids' for Burnley striker Nahki Wells

Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Waburton has revealed that there have been a number of "big bids" submitted to Burnley for reported Nottingham Forest target Nahki Wells.

The Bermuda international has spent the first half of the season on loan at Loftus Road, his second loan spell with the club, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.

But he will now been recalled by his Premier League parent club as they look to find a more permanent solution for the 29-year-old's future.

Such has been the striker's form for the Rs this term, interest has been sparked in Wells with Burnley receiving bids rumoured to be from Forest and Bristol City, both keen to strengthen their attacking ranks this month.

And QPR are also keen on re-signing him, but only in a deal that would not breach FFP (Financial fair play) regulations.

"He's Burnley's player, he has 18 months of a contract left to run," Warburton told QPR's offical website, as he opened up on his former loan player's long-term future.

"I know Sean [Dyche] very well and quite rightly they're going to call him back and see what happens. There's obviously interested parties because he's scoring goals.

"We're not going to be in a position at QPR to go and match some of the big bids being put forward by other clubs due to Financial Fair Play and where we are at, we have to be sensible, but that's just life.

He continued: "Do we want Nahki? Absolutely, he's a great guy to work with and has had a hugely positive impact, is well-liked by the squad and staff alike and has been very good for us.

"I was very blunt and open with Nahki that we're more than delighted with his contribution."
