Former Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka is reportedly keen on a return to management – in the Championship.
The Spaniard has been out of work since leaving the City Ground in January, after little more than a year in charge of the Reds.
Last month he admitted he was looking for a new project, saying: “I’m looking for something that motivates me and that I see that can make that club better, make it grow.”
And now Sky Sports report they understand Karanka is “keen to talk to Huddersfield Town about their current vacancy”.
The Terriers, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have picked up just one point from their opening three games in the second tier and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Lincoln City.
Jan Siewert was given the boot as boss last Friday, having picked up just one win in his seven months at the helm.
Mark Hudson was a first-team coach under Siewert and has been placed in caretaker charge, making no secret of the fact he wants to manage the club “one day”.
Karanka started out his management career with Middlesbrough, after being assistant coach at Real Madrid. He was previously linked with a return to the Bernabeu following his departure from Forest.
