Former Nottingham Forest attacker offers withering assessment of Reds' predicament

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Darren Huckerby has given a withering assessment of his old club’s current predicament.

The Reds made it seven games without a win on Saturday, as they were beaten 3-1 by Brentford at the City Ground.

Six of those seven games have ended in defeat, leaving Chris Hughton’s side perilously placed in the Championship table.

They remain in 21st place with 18 matches gone, but are only outside of the relegation zone courtesy of a marginally better goal difference than arch-rivals Derby County.

Coming on the back of last season’s agonising final day collapse, which saw Forest miss out on the play-offs, it has been a miserable few months Trentside.

Home games continue to be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic and Nottingham being in tier three.

But Huckerby, who spent a short spell on loan with the Reds in 2003, has sympathy for supporters.

He wrote on Twitter: “Something going seriously wrong at Nottingham Forest, fans deserve better.

“Actually good job fans haven’t been there! The last year has been a shambles.”

Forest will look to break their wretched run of form when they host Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

They then face a trip to Millwall on Saturday and are at home to Birmingham City on Boxing Day.
