Former Nottingham Forest and Notts County star lands manager job

Former Nottingham Forest and Notts County star Gary Mills has been appointed manager of Southern League Division One Central side Corby Town.

The 58-year-old - a European Cup winner with the Reds - has previously managed the likes of Alfreton Town, Tamworth, York City, Wrexham, Gateshead, Grantham Town, King's Lynn, as well as a brief stint in charge of the Magpies.

Mills replaces Tommy Wright at the Corby helm and will be assisted by his long-time number two, Darron Gee.

"Everybody at Corby Town would like to welcome Gary and Darron to Steel Park," said a club statement.

Mills started his playing career at Forest and played in their 1980 European Cup final victory over Hamburg.

He also played for Seattle Sounders, Derby County (on loan), Notts County and Leicester City.

Wright stepped down as Corby boss last month, citing work and family commitments.
