Former NHS Scotland chief joins PR firm Charlotte Street Partners

Professor Paul Gray, the former chief executive of NHS Scotland, has joined Edinburgh-based communications firm Charlotte Street Partners as a consulting partner.

The business said Gray will advise partners and clients of the firm on areas including strategy, governance, coaching and ethical leadership.

Laura Hamilton, Charlotte Street’s managing partner, said: “Paul is an excellent addition to our team and we’re delighted to welcome him aboard. He brings decades of perspective, experience and acute intelligence across the full range of issues that we think about on behalf of our clients.”

Gray said the firm’s clients were navigating an “increasingly complex world”. He added: “I am very pleased to be joining the firm at such an interesting time in its development.”

Gray is honorary professor at the University of Glasgow College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, and a senior faculty member at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. He is also a coach and mentor to a number of senior public sector executives.

Before joining the NHS he was the Scottish Government’s director general, rural affairs, environment and services.

Charlotte Street Partners was co-founded by former SNP MSP Andrew Wilson, a key economic advisor to Nicola Sturgeon.
