Former NFL WR Travis Rudolph arrested on murder charge

Travis Rudolph, who played wide receiver for the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins after a stellar career at Florida State, has been arrested for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm in Palm Beach County, Florida, according to the sheriff’s office.

Rudolph went undrafted after his career with the Seminoles. He signed with the Giants and made eight catches in 2017. He spent some time with Miami the next season before injuring his knee. He had no stats with the Dolphins.

He was arrested after sheriff’s officers responded to a double shooting early Wednesday morning in Lake Park, Florida. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said one male was found dead in West Palm Beach while another was transported from the scene of the shooting to the hospital.

Police say Rudolph fired a gun at four people, killing one and injuring another. Rudolph was arrested Wednesday.

Rudolph, the Seminoles’ leading receiver in 2015 and ’16, is being held in Palm Beach County jail with no bond. He is expected to appear before a judge Thursday.

Rudolph gained national attention in 2016 for eating lunch with an autistic student during a team visit to Montford Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida. Leah Paske, the student’s mother, posted video of the moment to Facebook, where it quickly went viral.
