Former NFL star Antonio Brown is given back his $5,000 after rift with cops

Hollywood, Fla., cops Wednesday revealed how much money they returned to former NFL star Antonio Brown that was meant for kids' football: 5,000 smackeroos.

Citing "an irreparable rift" between police and Brown, they gave him back his $5,000 after they said he treated them "with disrespect and disdain."

Police were called to his house on Estate Oak Circle twice in December to deal with spats between him and his live-in girlfriend of eight years and the mother of three of his children. They returned the money Jan. 9. It had been earmarked for the 7-on-7 football league run by the Hollywood Police Athletic League.

"We did not want him to continue to affect our youth nor influence them in a negative way," police said in a statement this week.

Days later, on Monday, police were called again to the house after the pair argued about a Bentley. Brown hollered at police that it was his car and, after an officer walked away, said the "police (are) not helping."

Brown recorded the encounter and it was posted online on TMZ.com, which included showing off gummy candies shaped like penises.

Department spokesman Officer Christian Lata said the money had not been spent and it wasn't wanted or needed.

"They do not need the money of Antonio Brown to sustain themselves," he said Wednesday.
