Former NFL running back Cierre Wood charged with murder in girl’s death

Former NFL running back Cierre Wood, who was on the Seattle Seahawks’ roster for five days in 2014, was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday and charged with murder in connection to the death of a 5-year-old girl.

According to KVVU-TV in Las Vegas, the girl was the daughter of Wood’s girlfriend, Amy Taylor.

Wood, 28, also faces charges of child abuse and child neglect. Taylor, 26, also faces charges of child abuse and child neglect, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

At Notre Dame, Wood rushed for 2,447 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was primarily a practice squad player for the Patriots, Texans, Bills and Seahawks. Seattle added him to their practice squad on Nov. 11, 2014, but released him before he could play in a game.

He most recently played in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes.
