Former NFL RB Peyton Hillis hospitalized after swimming accident

Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis was helicoptered to a hospital after a swimming accident in Pensacola, Fl. According to reports, the former Cleveland Browns player dived into the ocean to save his children.

He saved the children, per the player’s uncle, Greg Hills, but is in ICU and on a ventilator. His lungs and other organs are still recovering and he has a little ways to go before he’s upgraded, according to KNWA.

Peyton Hills played in the NFL from 2008-14. He rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010 with Cleveland.

He is best remembered for being voted to the cover of Madden NFL 12. After upsetting Ray Rice, Matt Ryan, and Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, he advanced to the finals where he faced off against Michael Vick. On April 27, 2011, Hillis was announced as the cover athlete for the game, beating out Vick with 66 percent of the vote,
