Former NFL Player Vontae Davis Found Dead At Home

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis (21) defends on a pass intended for Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10) during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday, Oct., 16,

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis, who played for the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts, was discovered deceased in his South Florida residence on Monday. Authorities in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, responded to a medical emergency at Davis' home where the 35-year-old was found dead. No signs of foul play were reported, and the cause of death remains undisclosed pending autopsy results. The investigation into Davis' passing is ongoing.

Davis, a first-round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2009 from the University of Illinois, enjoyed a 10-season career in the NFL. He spent three seasons with Miami before being traded to the Colts in 2012, where he played for six seasons. The Colts' team owner expressed his condolences, remembering Davis as a great player and teammate.

In 2018, Davis signed with the Buffalo Bills but abruptly retired during the second game of the season, citing multiple injuries and surgeries that led him to the realization that he should no longer continue playing. Throughout his career, Davis participated in 121 games, recording 22 interceptions and one touchdown. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015 while with the Colts.
