Former Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin has unleashed an astonishing post-match rant labelling his Marseille side as 'rubbish'.
Thauvin played the whole 90 minutes on Friday evening as Marseille were beaten 2-0 by Bordeaux. The result leaves Thauvin's side in fifth place in Ligue 1 - eight points adrift of the Champions League places.
Marseille narrowly missed out on a Champions League place last season and given Thauvin's recent form it would be a surprise if he remains an OM player beyond the end of this season.
The 26-year-old was named in France's World Cup-winning squad last summer on the back of scoring 26 goals and registering 18 assists last season and he has followed that up with 15 goals and nine assists this term.
A number of major European clubs are said to be monitoring Thauvin and when speaking to reporters after the defeat to Bordeaux he claimed he is 'fed up' of life at Marseille.
"I'm talking sh*t, I’m tired, but we've been poor this season," Thauvin told reporters.
"It’s the same story every season. I’m fed up. For a top-three finish, it’s over. And even if we get into Champions League, what’s the point? We’re rubbish."
Thauvin endured a horror spell at Newcastle, making just 16 appearances before being shipped out on loan to Marseille. He was considered one of Steve McClaren's worst signings at the club.
