Former Newcastle United striker on how the takeover could be a 'blast' for fans

Former Newcastle United forward Joselu believes Magpies supporters could be in for a 'blast' if the takeover is completed.

The latest takeover saga continues to drag on, but the prospective owners fronted by Ripon-born financier Amanda Staveley remain confident of concluding the deal.

Recent reports indicated a 123-page document from the World Trade Organisation detailing links with the Saudia Arabia's government and pirate service beoutQ has cast doubt over the deal.

But Premier League chiefs are not believed to have contacted Newcastle United's would-be owners to alert them of any complications in their owner's and director's test.

Joselu spent two seasons at St James' Park under Rafa Benitez before returning to La Liga with Alaves last summer.

The Spanish striker remembers his time on Tyneside fondly, and believes the potential project with the would-be owners could be a 'blast' for supporters.

Joselu told Spanish title AS : "Newcastle is a very big club with an incredible fans.

"The stadium is spectacular and if this new project goes well it will be a blast."

Joselu has impressed in La Liga so far this season, netting nine times and reportedly attracting attention from Barcelona in the mid-season window.

The 30-year-old striker has formed a strong partnership with former Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, and has spoken of an improved maturity in his game since making the summer switch.

Joselu added: "The beginning was difficult, but the squad has adapted to what the coach asks for.

"Personally, I feel very well. I have found my maturity and have learned from all my experiences.

"I hope to score many more goals. I'm really enjoying it because the club has given me what I needed.

"The city is amazing and I am enjoying myself."
