Jose Enrique has revealed he has been given the all-clear by his surgeon following treatment to remove a brain tumour.
The former Newcastle United left-back was diagnosed with a rare chordoma around the nerves behind his left eye last summer, which could have left him blind had it remained untreated.
After undergoing surgery to remove the tumour, Enrique then had dozens of sessions of radiotherapy - which left him so weak that he was unable to brush his teeth or walk down the stairs unaided.
But the 33-year-old has since made an inspiring recovery and revealed to the world his latest MRI scan had given him the all clear.
"Hello guys, I just had wonderful news today. I just got back the report from the MRI I had just a week-and-a-half ago," he said.
"Remember when I posted the last picture of me and Amy putting the finger like that [thumbs up]? I just wanted to let you all know because the support has been amazing. It's all clear, it's all perfect.
"Obviously when I received the news me and Amy were together and even the dog could understand it as well, and we were so happy about it and I can just look forward now.
"Don't look back anymore and just keep fighting. OK, so it's all clear and perfect. Thank you guys."
