Former Newcastle number nine Obafemi Martins makes unexpected Premier League return of sorts

Former Newcastle United number nine Obafemi Martins made an unexpected Premier League return in this week's run of games.

Martins, who scored 29 goals in 88 top-flight appearances for United , was said to be up-top for Southampton's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace - according to Chris Kamara.

The Sky Sports pundit was on commentary duty and mistook Martins for striker Michael Obafemi.

Asked about how the game had started, Kamara said: "It's all Southampton, they're playing it in the Crystal Palace half.

"Obafemi Martins who is playing instead of Danny Ings - is it? No, not Obafemi Martins, what's his name? Obafemi someone.

"Michael Obafemi - that's who. I was close, I knew there was an Obafemi in their somewhere!"

Southampton ran out 2-0 winners over Crystal Palace.
