Former Newcastle forward Demba Ba trending worldwide after cheeky jibe at Steven Gerrard's expense

Former Newcastle United forward Demba Ba found himself trending this morning as he had a cheeky dig at the expense of Steven Gerrard.

Ba wrote himself into Geordie folklore with his goalscoring exploits during his 18 months on Tyneside before he moved to Chelsea in January 2013.

But he is remembered most by other fans for scoring the goal that put a huge dent into Liverpool's Premier League title hopes in 2013/14.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard infamously slipped on the halfway line and Ba was the beneficiary as he pick up the loose ball, before racing through on goal and sliding the ball below Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

His goal silenced the Kop End and Chelsea went on to win the game 2-0 and Liverpool ended the season in second place behind Manchester City.

So when a video of a Futsal player slipping was doing the rounds on Twitter with the caption 'what would you do?', Ba wasted little time in tweeting 'score'.

The tweet garnered an incredible reaction on social media, and Ba was the top trend worldwide this afternoon as a result.
