Former Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan has lauded the 'perfect' signing of left-back Danny Rose.
There were a few raised eyebrows this week when Rose, who was arguably the best left-back in the Premier League at one point, chose to join the Magpies.
It was just last summer he was playing for Tottenham in the Champions League final but he had since fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho at White Hart Lane.
He is still an England international, though, and he wanted to move somewhere he would be guaranteed first team football in order to preserve his place in Gareth Southgate's squad ahead of this summer's European Championships.
Rose spoke about his excitement of playing in front of 52,000 fans at St James' Park on a regular basis - a feeling Nolan knows all too well.
And after Rose made his debut from the bench against Norwich on Saturday, Nolan told BBC Radio 5Live he believes Rose will be a fantastic addition for Magpies boss Steve Bruce between now and the end of the season.
“It’s fantastic. You’ve got a lad who is trying to prove himself to make sure he’s in the [England] Euro [2020] squad for the summer and he just fits into the system what they are playing perfect," he said.
"[It is a] Fantastic signing for Steve Bruce, hopefully he shines and keeps Newcastle going in the right direction."
