Former MSU Safety Khari Willis signs rookie deal with the Colts

The Colts liked Khari Willis so much, they said they nearly drafted him in the Third Round of the NFL Draft. Instead, they were able to use two draft picks to trade up in the Fourth Round and take him with the 109th pick overall. Now, they make that selection official by signing him to his official rookie contract.

Here is what Colts’ general manager Chris Ballard had to say about Willis:

“We thought about taking him in the third round. It was definitely in consideration. We think he’s athletic. We think he’s smart. I thought he was probably one of the better tackling safeties in this draft. We think he’s going to be a really good fit into that safety room. Not only from a talent perspective, but also from an intelligence and character perspective.”

Willis will walk into training camp with a great chance to become a starter next to Ohio State alumnus Malik Hooker.
