Former MSU LB Taiwan Jones tries out for WWE

It was revealed on Friday of last week that former Michigan State linebacker Taiwan Jones has tried out for WWE. Jones joins a group of 40 athletes who were at WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando last week to try their luck in the world of sports entertainment.

Jones, who was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2015 after a productive career at Michigan State, never stuck in the NFL. He tried his hand in the Alliance of American Football with the Memphis Express before that team went defunct. Jones joined a group of former NFL players including James Wilder Jr., AJ Francis, Chris Martin, and Kristjan Sokoli at the tryouts.

WWE has proven to be a great home for former professional football players who couldn’t stick in the NFL. If accepted, Jones will start in WWE’s developmental product called NXT which is filmed in Orlando. Current WWE superstars who used to play in the NFL include Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Roman Reigns, and more.
