Former MSU guard Travis Trice and USA Select Team blow out Team USA

There has been a narrative surrounding the Team USA Basketball team heading into the FIBA World Cup and that is the lack of star power on the team. The only All-NBA player from last season on the team is Kemba Walker, and that seems to be starting to haunt the team as it was revealed today that they were blown out by a team comprised largely of G-League players and featuring none other than former Michigan State standout Travis Trice.

It was reported that the Select Team beat Team USA 36-17 in a 10-minute scrimmage.

Trice, who went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, has spent his career since playing at MSU bouncing between the G-League and various teams overseas.

Trice was on the Austin Spurs roster as of January 16, 2019 but then decided to go play for Tofas S.K. of the Basketball Super League, the basketball league of Turkey.

I am not sure if beating the USA team will do anything for his career, but I still believe that Trice could make one last push at an NBA spot before he stops trying to focus on European ball. It probably bodes well that Trice and the Select Team stood out playing Team USA, as Greg Popovich coaches the National team and Trice played in the Spurs organization recently.
