'Former MP' Rahul Gandhi has been against sentiments of people: UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary joined the saffron bandwagon in slamming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who lost his Lok Sabha membership on Friday, a day after being convicted by a Gujarat court over his controversial comment on PM Narendra Modi's surname.

Welcoming Lok Sabha secretariat's decision to cancel Rahul's membership, Chaudhary said that the "former MP" has been continuously making statements against the "sentiments of the people". "Strong action will be taken against those who hurt the social harmony of India," he said, underlining "a message" that the law of the country and the constitution of the country are supreme.

"Rahul was born in a royal family, and therefore he is becoming intolerable towards a poor and backward class person (PM Narendra Modi) who became Prime Minister. "That is the reason why while abusing Modi, he has started abusing the backward castes," he said.

Chaudhary said that Gandhi's history of making illogical, factless and fabricated allegations "is very old". "People are well aware about the lies he spread on Rafale to mislead the public before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, for which he unconditionally apologized after being reprimanded by the court," he said, adding that his slogan of "chowkidar chor hai" did not worked and he and his party faced defeat in the Lok sabha elections.

Chaudhary said people have lost count on how many times the Congress party made personal comments on PM Narendra Modi. He expressed surprise that despite the court punishing Rahul, Congress leader are justifying his statement

"This shows how the Congress thinks about the entire backward class," he said, accusing the `grand old party' of having a mentality of a "monarchy". Chaudhary said that Gandhi insulted the OBC community by making indecent remarks, "calling them thieves" and the entire Congress stood by that statement. "The entire OBC community will take revenge for this insult in the coming elections in a democratic manner from a "stubborn Rahul and the Congress", who have been making statements against the sentiments of the public.
