Former MP Kirit Somaiya moves Bombay HC, seeks FIR against former cabinet minister Anil Parab

MUMBAI: Newly appointed Bombay high court judge, Justice Sharmila Deshmukh, on Friday recused from hearing a petition filed by former MP Kirit Somaiya seeking a probe by a special investigation team (SIT) or directions for the CBI to register a first information report (FIR) against former cabinet minister and Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab for alleged illegal conversion of land.

Justice Deshmukh was on the bench headed by Justice Revati Mohite Dere before which the matter came up.

The BJP leader's petition alleged that Parab and others allegedly got permission to construct in a no-development zone after conversion of an agricultural land into a non-agricultural one.
