Former Motherwell hero could face his old side in Europa League crunch tie

Former Motherwell hero Gael Bigirimana could be on a collision course with his old side in the Europa League, having signed for potential opponents Glentoran.

Bigirimana, 26, who was at Motherwell from 2017-19, is one of five players brought in by Glentoran boss Mick McDermott ahead of their provisional league start of October 17.

However, it's in the Europa League that Bigirimana could play a major role, with Glentoran and Faroese side Torshavn clashing on Thursday, August 20, in the preliminary round.

Motherwell host the victors at Fir Park seven days later in the first qualifying round.

All qualifying ties are to be played over a single leg, but UEFA have warned that teams will forfeit the game should a visiting club be unable to enter the country in line with government travel advice.

Should Motherwell negotiate the first round tie against either Glentoran or Torshavn, they will head through to the second qualifying round on September 17, with the draw for that held on August 31.
