Former Motherwell and Partick Thistle striker joins Gartcairn

Gartcairn have signed former Motherwell and Partick Thistle striker Martin Grehan.

The veteran frontman is the latest big-name signing for the West of Scotland League outfit, following the captures of fellow ex-Jags Gary Harkins and Steven Saunders during the summer.

Grehan, who reached the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with Lowland League BSC Glasgow last term, has a wealth of SPFL experience, having also played for Stenhousemuir, Stranraer, Alloa and Arbroath during his career.

The 35-year-old made his debut in a friendly on Saturday and scored in the 2-1 defeat at home to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

The new West of Scotland League campaign is set to kick-off later this month, although uncertainty surrounds when Steven Kinniburgh's side will play, with the league starting on October 24 "at the earliest".
