Former Monaco chief offers thoughts on Kylian Mbappe future amid Liverpool interest

Former Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev claims Kylian Mbappe is "headed towards" an exit from Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Vasilyev was in charge of Monaco's transfer dealings when Mbappe secured a £166million move to PSG in 2017, after his breakout 26-goal campaign.

Mbappe, 21, has gone on to hit new heights since his switch to the French capital, winning seven major honours and scoring 99 goals in 133 games.

The forward also spearheaded France's charge to the World Cup in 2018 with four goals in the competition, and remains perpetually linked with a move away from Parc des Princes.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are chief among Mbappe's suitors and Vasilyev admits the player may be considering a move in order to satisfy his desire to "win everything".

“He is going to have to make very important decisions, and right now he seems more headed towards a way out," Vasilyev told Telefoot .

“Nothing is impossible. Kylian is young and what he wants to win are titles.

"Kylian is ambitious. He wants to win everything and break all the records."

Mbappe's current contract runs until 2022 and PSG sporting director Leonardo is believed to be working on a new deal for his side's prized asset.

Although he admitted Mbappe is destined to leave the club in the future, Vasilyev believes he will sign an extension under certain circumstances.

“If tomorrow PSG propose an ambitious project, where he feels comfortable and with options to go further and guarantees that he can win everything in his career, he could renew," Vasilyev added.

Mbappe has started this season in scintillating form with nine goals and seven assists in nine games, while PSG sit top of Ligue 1 with a four-point lead.
