Former MMA star Paddy Holohan blasts 'Bugsy Malone wannabe' gangs causing havoc around Dublin

MMA maestro and councillor Paddy Holohan has blasted 'Bugsy Malone' wannabe youths who are carrying out random attacks on innocents teens around Dublin.

Last week two 13-year-olds became the latest victims after being jumped by around ten youths on a bridge near Liffey Valley shopping centre.

Jody Campion and his friend Senan suffered facial injuries after the disgusting attack that was filmed by "at least three" of the gang.

The attack was just one of a huge amount over the year with a teen in Artane recently left with "life-changing" injuries after being stabbed by a gang of 20 in Artane.

Now Sinn Fein's Paddy Holohan has come out pulling punches at cowardly groups telling them "you're not the gangstars you think you are."

Speaking on his No Shame podcast, the Tallaght man said the groups are "ruining" their local areas and that being a "mad lad" will get them nowhere later in life.

He said: "These little groups that are going around and beating kids up.

"This is really pissing me off. To go around and beat someone up in a gang, and this happening where young men are getting jumped and people are getting jumped, does it make them [gangs] think they're hard? You're not hard.

"I see people going into a cage, and I see the real human being. These lads aren't hard. You're not Busgy Malone, you're not these gangster lads that you all think you are, yous are actually probably really soft when it comes down to 1 v 1.

"You need to compare yourself to the people who fought for this country, at your age, and your running around in North Face tracksuits kicking fellas in the head that are a lot younger than you.

"You're ruining your housing estates, driving cars into parks. Being 'mad lads'. You're not funny, you're not hard."

The former MMA star exploded even further with his rant and urged anyone involved in these attacks to "get a hobby".

"The situation this country is in at the moment is a bad one. Regarding homelessness, regarding leaders, the health services, jobs, and the future for all of us.

"And there's a big group of the youth running around acting like clowns. Cop on lads, get a hobby, go and do something, fix your estate. If you're running around and acting like a gobshite you deserve nothing in the future.

"Go out there and stop acting like idiots and help your estate, help your community, because you're going to get nothing for it. "
