Former Miss Newcastle Rebecca Gormley enters Love Island villa as latest bombshell

It was only a matter of time until a Geordie entered the Love Island villa and now there is one in the shape of former Miss Newcastle Rebecca Gormley.

Every series of Love Island to date has featured a Geordie and last year we had our first Geordie winner with Amber Gill triumphing in the final alongside now ex Greg O'Shea.

There wasn't a single Geordie in the Love Island lineup when the ITV2 show's first-ever winter series kicked off last weekend but that will all change on Monday night when viewers get their first proper look at on the show after her bombshell entrance was teased at the end of Sunday's episode.

Rebecca, 21, is a part-time model and carer, who won Miss Newcastle in 2018, while working in customer services at EE as well as being a part-time shot girl.

On her way to winning the Miss Newcastle final two years ago at the city's County Hotel, she raised £2,000 for the Chronicle Sunshine Fund by taking part in a number of charity events including a skydive and then went onto compete in Miss England 2019, where she finished sixth.

Rebecca has been noticeably absent from social media over the past few weeks - always a big giveaway that someone might be going on Love Island! - but after rumours swirled about her being on the show on Sunday, a number of people commented on her last Instagram picture from a fortnight ago to wish her well.

Love Island: First look at new girl Rebecca

Someone wrote "Hope u have a mint time in the villa!!!," and another of her followers posted "can't wait to see her in the villa!

On the subject of what makes her the perfect Islander, Rebecca says "I’m fun, I’m loud, I’m outgoing, I’m fearless and spontaneous!" and it sounds like she's going to be rather ruthless in the villa as, when asked how far she'll go to get what she wants on Love Island, she replied "As far as I need to go."
