Former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter slams hit and run driver who damaged her car

Former model Holly Carpenter told of her shock after her car was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

The ex-Dancing With The Stars contestant, 28, said she was driving in Dublin when a vehicle came speeding up the bus lane and collided with hers.

She added: “I was just sitting in my car at Ormond Quay, waiting at a red light when a car came out of nowhere and crashed into the side of my car. Luckily there was no one on the passenger side.”

The motorist sped off leaving the businesswoman with more than €600 in damages this week.

Holly, who was not injured, said: “I have no wing mirror on my car now so I haven’t been able to drive it all this week.

“I’m actually fine, it was just a shock. It could have been worse – but what an asshole.”

Speaking to RSVP Live, she also said she is much happier in her skin now compared to when she won Miss Ireland in 2011.

Holly added: “The biggest thing that changed for me was accepting people’s perception of me was going to be so different.

“Walking into a room, I’d feel intimidated if people thought ‘Oh, she’s Miss Ireland, she probably thinks she’s great’.

“There was pressure but I think learning from [being Miss Ireland] at a young age and having people around me like my mum and my friends to keep me grounded really helped.

“I’m excited for my 30s as well. Any woman I talk to who is a bit older says when you’re in your 30s you’re more secure.”
