Former minister hits out at Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin for not greeting people on Diwali

CHENNAI: AIADMK MLA and former minister R B Udhayakumar on Tuesday condemned chief minister M K Stalin’s decision not to greet Tamil Nadu people on Diwali. In a statement, he also sought to know what Stalin, who had protested against liquor sale in the state when he was leader of the Opposition, had to say about Tasmac racking in Rs 464 crore liquor revenue during Diwali.

He said leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi and leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami had greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali, but the chief minister chose not to. “He can refrain from greeting the people as the leader of the DMK, but he should have greeted people as the chief minister of the state,” said Udhayakumar.

He said the Coimbatore cylinder blast caused panic and concern among the public. While EPS released a detailed report, the chief minister chose to remain silent on the issue.
