Former Michigan State wide receiver petitioning Dolphins for tryout

Credit to Paxton Boyd of West Palm Beach Television (WPTV) for bringing this story to light — because it is a fun one.

Former Michigan State wide receiver MacGarrett Kings can apparently smell the blood in the water. The Dolphins’ youth movement this offseason has created many casualties off of the roster as Miami looks for the kind of hungry, driven athletes that can develop and bring the Dolphins organization out of the shadows of the NFL.

Kings would like to help the Dolphins create one more, too. That’s because Kings is workout out across the street from Miami’s training facility on a daily basis — obsessed with catching attention from the Dolphins and securing a tryout.

Kings is a South Florida native who went on to play his college ball at Michigan State, where he would log 116 receptions for 1,461 yards and 9 touchdowns over the course of his four years with the Spartans. He last played with Michigan State in 2015.

Now? Kings is working out across the street from Miami’s Davie facility each and every day. His motivation?

“It’s not for the money, it’s not for the glamor, it’s just for the love of the game,” said Kings.

Here’s hoping the Dolphins grant Kings a tryout someday. This level of commitment to one’s craft is admirable, as is his persistence.
