Former Michigan State golfer Matt Harmon misses cut at Rocket Mortgage Classic

A solid two days weren’t enough for Matt Harmon to make the cut at the Detroit Golf Club as the PGA’s best diced the course up over the first two days of the inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic.

The Michigan State golfer and 2007 Big Ten Golfer of the Year finished his two rounds at -1, missing the cut by four strokes. Harmon needed to shoot at least -4 in his 2nd round and came up short with an even par 72. Harmon had five birdies on the day, but also rang up three bogies and a double bogey.

It wasn’t the day Harmon wanted, but at least he got a nice ovation from some MSU fans.

Harmon made the tournament as a late sponsor’s exemption. He’s a regular on the Korn Ferry Tour–the PGA’s second division–where he is ranked 139th on the tour.
