Former Manchester United trio complete summer transfers

Former Manchester United trio Callum Gribbin, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and George Tanner have all secured moves in the summer transfer window.

The former United hopefuls will be facing off in League Two next season after Gribbin sealed a transfer to newly-promoted Barrow AFC, Tanner signed for Carlisle United and Borthwick-Jackson penned a deal at Oldham following a successful loan spell with the club last season.

Gribbin was very highly rated during his time at United and trained with the first-team squad under both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

United fought off stiff competition from Liverpool to keep Gribbin at Old Trafford five years ago but unfortunately a series of injuries hampered his development and saw him leave the club having failed to realise his potential.

Borthwick-Jackson was released by United earlier this summer having made 14 first-team appearances for the club under Van Gaal in the 2015/16 campaign but never played for the club again after signing a long-term deal following his breakthrough.

The 22-year-old impressed during his loan-spell with Oldham last season having experienced difficult times when on loan with Wolves, Leeds, Scunthorpe and Tranmere.

"After 17 years at the club, it's time for me to leave Manchester United," Borthwick-Jackson wrote on Instagram following his release. "Growing up as a kid from Manchester, all I wanted to do was play for United.

"To make my debut for the club I grew up supporting was a dream come true and a day that will stay in my heart forever."

Tanner completes his move to Carlisle having impressed during a loan move to Morecambe last season which saw him make 29 appearances.

The 20-year-old was recalled by United in January before another temporary move to Salford, but did not feature for the Ammies.
