Former Manchester United man and legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent Vincent Kompany a special message ahead of his testimonial on Wednesday.
The Swedish frontman, now playing for La Galaxy in Major League Soccer, scored 17 goals in 33 Premier League appearances for United.
A serious knee injury ended his debut campaign at the club under Jose Mourinho in 2017 as United went on to lift the Europa League title.
There have been some links suggesting the 37-year-old could make a dramatic return to Old Trafford, with his current deal up in November and United in need of extra forwards after letting go of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
That seems very unlikely, however, with Ole Gunnar Solskajer instead offering more first-team opportunities to the likes of Daniel James and Mason Greenwood.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain striker made a special appearance ahead of Kompany's testimonial, though.
Whilst the Swede wasn't on the field for the Premier League All-star XI, he did have a special message for Kompany on video, paying tribute to the City captain's career.
Speaking on a video posted by City's official Twitter account, Ibrahimovic said: "Vincent, congratulations for the career you had. What you've achieved, not many have achieved.
"I want to give you a big congratulations for the leader you are. You're a big example for the football and for the players out there.
"I want to wish you all the best in the next chapter of your life and your career.
"All the best and all the success."
