Former Manchester United striker disagrees with Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk over Roberto Firmino claim

Virgil van Dijk's claim that Roberto Firmino is the best player he's ever played with has been rebutted by former Manchester United and Everton striker Louis Saha.

Liverpool maintained their 100% record in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday with Firmino scoring the final goal and becoming the first Brazilian player to reach 50 goals in the domestic competition.

His talent is extraordinary and the Reds frontman has been hailed as one of the best players in world football right now due to what he brings to Jurgen Klopp's side.

Blood Red: 'Firmino plays football in 5D'

Van Dijk too lauded the attacker but Saha, who scored 42 goals for rivals Manchester United , disagreed that Firmino was the best player at Liverpool and believes another Reds star is being overlooked.

Speaking on  Stadium Astro , the former forward says: “For me, [Sadio] Mane is the most consistent one.

“He’s dangerous in every game.

“We’ve seen Salah sometimes being off and not inspired but Mane has been very consistent.

“He is underrated in terms of the rankings for Ballon d’Or.

“I can see why a defender would pick Firmino though, you can give him the ball when the defence is under pressure and he can give you a chance to breathe.”

Saha was then asked why he believes Mane is underrated.

He said: “For example, the Balon d'Or rankings surprised me – he wasn’t even in the top 10.

“For me, it’s a shocker.

“He’s been the most consistent player at Liverpool, more than Salah.

“When Salah wasn’t scoring over seven or eight games, Mane was here.

“That’s probably why he got  upset at the end  when he went off.”
