Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole offers advice to Anthony Martial amid struggles

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has told Anthony Martial what he needs to do to take his game to the next level.

Martial has promised so much at the Reds but never quite delivered his full potential yet, with his 2020/21 season highlighting the worries in regards to the forward's consistency.

On the back of a 2019/20 season during which he scored 17 Premier League goals in 32 appearances, Martial had just one goal in the top tier in 12 matches this term ahead of the Aston Villa clash.

But United haven't felt the full force of Martial's indifferent form thanks to quality performances aplenty from other players in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad which has the Reds competing for the Premier League title.

Prior to the club's home match against Villa on Friday evening, in which Martial scored United's opener, Cole was in the Sky Sports studio and he had some words of advice for the Frenchman.

"He's super talented, he gets in great positions but sometimes his finishing is a bit erratic," Cole told Sky Sports.

"He hits the goalkeeper, he doesn't make the right decisions at times but he has all the talent in the world. I do genuinely believe, like Marcus (Rashford), he's nowhere near his full potential.

"He just has to keep persevering and hopefully he'll go on a good run. He's another one that could get 25 goals, easily."
