Former Manchester United star Nani completes Serie A move

Former Manchester United star Nani has signed for Serie A club Venezia in a deal that will see him at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo until 2023.

Nani, now 35, was a free agent since his contract with MLS side Orlando City ended at the beginning of the month.

The former Portugal international had spells at Sporting, Fenerbahce, Valencia and Lazio after leaving United in 2015 and subsequently made the move to America in 2019 with Orlando City, where he scored 31 goals in 87 games for the MLS outfit.

Despite coming towards the end of his career, he has now been presented with a chance to play in Europe again, with interest from Bologna and Genoa but it is believed Venezia have managed to secure his signature.

Nani had an underwhelming 17/18 season with Lazio under Simone Inzaghi, with the Portuguese International managing only three goals in 25 appearances for the club.

The Portuguese now has a chance to prove his worth again with Venezia, and will be linking up with former United goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who moved to the Italian club in October as a free agent.

Nani made a name for himself during his time at United, making 230 appearances and scoring 40 goals. During his time under Sir Alex Ferguson, he won four Premier League titles and a Champions League.

The winger also tasted success on the international stage, after winning the Euros in 2016 with Portugal.
