Former Manchester United star makes Scott McTominay prediction

Owen Hargreaves believes Scott McTominay will be a big part of Manchester United’s future.

The Scotland star has established himself as a regular for the Reds since being handed his debut by Jose Mourinho in 2017.

McTominay, who missed two months of this season with a knee injury, scored the decisive second goal in a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Man City at the weekend.

That win over Pep Guardiola’s side had kept United within touching distance of the top four, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side now just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

And Hargreaves believes the 23-year-old gives everything for the Old Trafford club every time he steps out onto the pitch.

“He epitomises everything what a United player is,” the former Reds midfielder told BT Sport before United’s game with Austrian side LASK in the Europa League

“Of course Fernandes is the flair. But that is what you need. Someone who plays with that heart. Every time he steps onto the pitch he gives you everything he has got.

“I remember that performance against PSG last season where he came of age. He is at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield and he gives you everything.

“He’s a good passer of the ball, physically he is very good and he is chipping in with goals, so his all around game is really improving.

“And now with Bruno Fernandes in there in the 10, he can play in his natural position which is almost an eight.

“He is going to be a big part of their future. Terrific player. “
