Darren Fletcher has hailed the player he feels was the Manchester United unsung hero during the 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
United took the lead in the first half thanks to Marcus Rashford 's finish. Daniel James provided the cross from the right for the assist but Liverpool hit back late on when Adam Lallana tapped in Andy Robertson's cross.
Whilst he didn't get himself on the scoresheet or provide an assist, Andreas Pereira was influential throughout in the middle of the park.
Pereira produced one of his better games for United, with Fletcher hailing the impact of the 23-year-old.
"He's an out-an-out number ten. It has been difficult for him to fit in the formation sometimes," Fletcher explained on Match of the Day 2.
"The back five with the two holding midfielders allowed them to do that. He was leaving something on players and he will be annoying and he was a threat.
"I think he has been a little frustrated playing in wide areas. His natural game is to come inside and he was a big reason behind what United did well."
Fletcher added that whilst United will be happy with their performance, ultimately he says the draw will feel like dropped points.
"When you concede a late goal it always feel like you have let one get away, especially with the way that Liverpool were rattled in the first half," Fletcher added.
"Liverpool will be happier with a point. Most United fans would have taken a point before the game but the fact that you're leading for a long time, it becomes a little bit disappointing."
